New Medicare Cards are Coming!

New Medicare ID cards will be mailed between April 2018 - April 2019. The new cards will no longer display your Social Security number. Instead, your card will have a new Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) that will be used for billing and for checking eligibility and claim status.

Important Reminders:

  • Ensure that your mailing address is up to date. If your address needs to be corrected, contact the Social Security Administration at ssa.gov/myaccount or 1-800-772-1213.

  • Beware of anyone who contacts you about your new Medicare card. Medicare will never ask you to give out your personal or private information in order to obtain your new Medicare card with your new number.

  • If you haven't received your new card, be patient. It will take some time to distribute new cards to each individual in the program. Your card might arrive at a different time than your family, friend or neighbor.

  • Do not throw away your old card. Keep your card until you receive your new one, and then dispose of it properly to ensure that your identity remains safe.
