Dr. Daniel McKellar Finds Wayne The Perfect Place To Advance Cancer Care For The Region.
Dr. Daniel McKellar appreciates an environment dedicated to excellence in patient care. He found exactly that in Wayne HealthCare when he made the decision to join the staff full-time as a general surgeon and director of the cancer program in July of 2009.
An experienced surgeon focused on cancer treatment, Dr. McKellar had been caring for patients in the region for several days a week until last year. He then came to the personal realization that Wayne offered an ideal place for him to permanently deliver superior cancer care for his patients. It was something that grew out of his fond connection to the community, his patients and associates at Wayne. But more than anything, it was the environment, leadership team and medical professionals dedicated to unsurpassed cancer treatment.
“I have been involved with a number of hospitals throughout my career, and Wayne HealthCare is the most supportive of physicians of any I have ever experienced. They want their doctors to be as effective and successful as possible in caring for patients,” stated Dr. McKellar.
What Dr. McKellar discovered at Wayne was that the entire system was unified to deliver excellent patient care: new surgical suites for the most modern operating environment, the latest in technology, and high-quality medical professionals. All of this is wrapped in a beautiful environment conducive to the healing process. Plus, patients have access to advanced cancer treatments and are able to participate in national clinical trials.
But what Dr. McKellar truly appreciated was the quality of the medical associates that surround him. Whether the local physicians, pathologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, care coordinators, technicians or hospitalists, he has been impressed with the capable and experienced team associated with Wayne.
Dr. McKellar’s vision for the future is to make Wayne HealthCare an accredited cancer care center, complete with the latest in comprehensive treatment capabilities. He foresees a continuum of care and resources that mean local cancer patients can get superior treatment, closer to home.
