Nurse Staffing Guidelines
Wayne HealthCare is committed to providing the highest quality and safest care to our patients. Our nursing units are staffed with highly skilled registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care assistants.
Each unit has a written staffing plan developed to accommodate a projected average daily patient census. The patient census is reviewed each shift by a unit nurse's leader or staffing coordinator. Staffing is adjusted as needed to meet patient needs.
Nursing supervisors are on duty at all times to assist with adjusting nursing unit staffing when unexpected fluctuations in patient census or need occur. Wayne HealthCare follows the Staffing Guidelines set by the American Nurses Association, Principles for Nurse Staffing, American Nurses Publishing, Washington, D.C., 1999. If you would like more information about these guidelines, please speak with the Nurse Manager/Director on the unit or contact the Nursing Office at Ex. 5234.
