Core Laboratory Lead Technician - 1st Shift, Full-Time

Full-Time | 1st Shift | Laboratory

The Core Lead Tech works closely with the Technical Supervisor of the core lab on all aspects of the core laboratory. This full-time position is primary to 1st shift and reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.

Qualifications:

• Must hold an Associate’s Degree and be registered as a MLT.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Current microbiology experience preferred
• Previous lab experience preferred but not required

Responsibility:

• The Core Lab Tech aids in responsibility for the oversight of activities and competence of testing personnel performing laboratory procedures in the Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis section of the laboratory.
• Alters or adjusts methods and procedures for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
• Monitors performance improvement activities and presents data to the Technical Supervisor of QA.
• Takes responsibility for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• Ensures that patient test results are not reported out of QC or analytic failure requires correction actions to be taken.
• Keeps clear and concise records as required by CLIA standards.
• Demonstrates effective communication.
• Demonstrates good leadership skills.
• Assists with employee orientation
• Assists with employee evaluations.
• Assists in evaluating new equipment or test procedures.
• Assists in staffing to ensure adequate coverage of testing personnel in section.
• Reviews quality control performed in department on a routine basis.
• Maintain high ethical standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
