Patient Access Supervisor - Full Time, 1st Shift 1.0FTE

Position:

The Patient Access and Telecommunications supervisor contributes to our operations by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and management systems in all facets of Telecommunications and Patient Access, including registration, ED registration, and central scheduling. The person in this position serves as a role model for ethical behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision, and values of our organization. Plan, Organize, Lead and Direct activities of all areas in accordance with applicable administrative and regulatory requirements. Reports to the Patient Access/Telecommunications Director and CFO.

Responsibility:

  • Supervise personnel in Patient Access (Registration) and Telecommunications.
  • Monitor for completion of all Patient Access (Registration) and Telecommunications Functions and assigned duties.
  • Assists in the hiring and training of Patient Access and Telecommunications staff.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in all areas; by covering any call-ins or with other available staff.
  • Hold staff accountable for their actions by discussing and/or completing any Disciplinary Actions with employee, completing appropriate paperwork, Notifying Director and Human Resources as necessary
  • Completes staffing work schedules for both Patient Access and Telecommunications, timely, accurately, and correctly.
  • Learn all aspects of Patient Access and Telecommunications
  • Conduct regular Staff Meetings and Huddles to improve communication, provide education and team building.
  • Provide quick follow up of any complaints
  • Seek methods to reduce costs throughout both departments
  • Assists in providing information to staff for improvement processes through audits.
  • Attend meetings as required; participate on committees as directed, professional activities and maintain professional affiliations as appropriate.
  • Assists in the review and approval of personnel time cards for accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining continuous training for all employees and coordinate extensive training for new employees in all areas.
  • Completing all special assignments as requested.
  • Work with staff to educate or help patients understand Advanced Directives, Patient Rights and Privacy Notices.
  • Assists in maintaining systems for vendors; monitor all activity for performance, trouble shooting and cost effectiveness.
  • Administering the following: performance appraisals (evaluations), competency assessments, staff orientation, ongoing education programs and development courses in all areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor daily and monthly upfront/point of service collections and reports as directed.
  • Conduct one on one or group training sessions to improved collections
  • Assist in the process of balancing the cash drawers daily and routing any monies taken in to appropriate area as well as provide staff education and training.
