Medical Laboratory Scientist - Resource PRN, Varied Shifts

Position: This position is a casual Medical Lab Scientist position.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as an MT(CLS) or equivalent.
• Experience as generalist preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the Medical Director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
• Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Informs the supervisor if quality control is out of limits.
• Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
• Logs in specimen, keeps accurate records, prepares and transmits reports clearly and completely.
• Reports tests results in the proper format.
• Draws blood specimens from patients as required.
• Insures that work transferred between shifts is problem free; knows when workload allows time for projects.
• Demonstrates confidence when approaching and performing tasks.
• Treats all patient information, including tests results, confidentially; does not talk indiscreetly about test results of patients.
• Other job duties as assigned.
