Security Supervisor
This is a full time 1st shift position working 40 hours weekly. The Security Supervisor is on campus to act as a visible deterrent to crime and policy infractions, as well as detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts, which may be a threat to the property, staff, visitors or patients. Occasionally interacts with psychiatric/violent patients. This position reports to the Senior Director of Support Services.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- Up to 5 Years of verifiable experience, with 3 years in law enforcement, security, customer service or related field.
- Have intermediate computer skills, report writing and event logging using software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Emergency Preparedness training required within one year.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
- Supervisory experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- The Security Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of Security Officers that are monitoring all areas of the hospital in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Schedule Security staff to ensure facility has 24/7 coverage
- Lead the Security sub-committee
- Participate in required committees and meetings
- Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently
- Assist in lifting patients as needed to either assist nursing staff or help transport expired patients
- Restrain violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves, others and yourself.
- Should obtain minimal level of proficiency of tasks through experience by the end of three months.
- Knowledge of principles of direct patient care, certain treatments, basic observations and essential points of care about emergency patients.
- Requires high level of mental alertness to avoid error and negative consequences to patients.
- Spends majority of time dealing with patients of whom some may create stress, frustration, or high level of concern.
- Monitor parking facilities and pedestrian and vehicular traffic in accordance with hospital policy
- Oversee camera and badge systems and other safety control measures
- Issue and track parking passes
- Physical abilities must allow for frequent working, stooping, bending, and frequent lifting and moving of patients.
