What is robotic-assisted joint replacement?
Robotic-assisted joint replacement uses a CT scan of your joint to build a 3D model before surgery. Your surgeon uses that model to plan implant size and placement, then the Mako robotic arm helps carry out that plan during the procedure. The surgeon performs the surgery. The robotic arm supports accuracy.
How long does recovery take after joint replacement?
Recovery depends on the joint and the patient. Most joint replacement patients begin walking with assistance the same day or the day after surgery, work with physical therapy for several weeks, and return to normal daily activities within a few months. Your surgeon will give you a timeline specific to your procedure at your consultation.
Will I need physical therapy after surgery?
Yes, for most orthopedic procedures. Physical therapy restores strength, range of motion, and confidence in the joint. Wayne HealthCare provides rehabilitation on site in Greenville, so you can complete therapy at the same location where you had surgery.
What orthopedic conditions do you treat?
Our orthopedic specialists treat knee and hip arthritis, joint pain, fractures, sports injuries, shoulder and rotator cuff problems, foot and ankle conditions, hand and wrist injuries, and general mobility limitations. Both surgical and non-surgical treatment options are available.
Do I need a referral to see an orthopedic specialist?
Many patients can schedule directly without a referral, though some insurance plans require one. Call 937.548.1141 and our team can check your plan before you book.
Where is orthopedic care provided at Wayne HealthCare?
Orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation take place at the Orthopedic Center of Excellence on the Wayne HealthCare campus at 835 Sweitzer Street in Greenville, Ohio, serving Darke County and surrounding communities.
