Certified Surgical Technician - 1st Shift, Full-Time

1St Shift | Full-Time | Perioperative Services

This is a day shift position that requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the department and patients. This position assumes call rotation. The position reports to the Director of Perioperative Services.

Qualifications

• Certification by the National Association of Surgical Technicians required

• Previous surgical technician experience preferred.

• Current BLS certification required.

• Responsible to take a call and must live within a 45 minute response time.

• Must be able to maintain ongoing compliance and/or education related to the Surgical Technician Field

Skill and Ability

• Co-responsibility with the registered professional nurse for correct counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and sharps.

• Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of the identification and labeling of medications on the sterile field.

• Knowledge and practice of correct positioning of patients.

• Knowledge and practice of safety in transporting patients.

• Knowledge and responsibility for correct instrumentation according to size and/or the age of the patient.

• Knowledge and responsibility for correct prostheses for each procedure.

• Responsible for setting up and maintaining sterile fields.

• Able to meet the physical demands of the position.

• Ability to participate in current and future training programs in order to learn new functions necessary for the OR to provide new and improved services.
