Wayne HealthCare Updates Visitor Policy in Response to the COVID-19 Increase in the Region

To continue to protect the safety of our patients, staff and community at large, beginning Friday, September 24, 2021 at 7 a.m., Wayne HealthCare updated their visitor policy. Please note changes below and that Wayne HealthCare continues to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of everyone who enters our hospital.

Thank you for your understanding and your assistance to keep everyone safe!

Visitors for Outpatient, Ambulatory, Emergency Department, and Hospitalized Patients

  • All In-patients within the hospital will be permitted one (1) visitor/support person, given adequate social distancing can be met and supply of personal protective equipment remains stable.
  • Maternity patients may have one (1) visitor/support person.
  • No visitors for Outpatient and Emergency Department patients within the hospital. Visitation may occur by exception as approved by the Provider.
  • Ambulatory procedure patients will be permitted one (1) visitor/support person.
  • The allowance of a support person(s) for patients of the Wayne HealthCare facilities (Outpatient Rehab, Wayne Surgeons, Western Ohio OB/GYN, Walk-in Care, Union City Medical Center, and Versailles Medical Building) may vary by Provider.
  • No visitation will be allowed by anyone under the age of 18.
  • Exceptions:
    • End-of-life or life-threatening situations. Those will be made on a case-by-case compassionate basis.
    • Senior Behavior Health visitation is by appointment only.
    • Limited visitation for confirmed or suspected Covid-19 patients will be based on guidance from the patient’s care provider and the availability of personal protective equipment. Visitation hours are 9 am to 11 am, 1 pm to 3 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Only one (1) visitor will be permitted per day. Exceptions will be made in circumstances involving end-of-life or life-threatening situations.
    • Additional exceptions may be made by hospital staff upon approval.

Visitor Screening

  • All patients and visitors will be screened for symptoms and exposure history upon entering the hospital and all Wayne HealthCare facilities.
  • Visitors will be asked to leave the facility if they have had symptoms in the past 24 hours or exposures in the last 14 days.
  • All visitors entering the hospital are still required to wear a mask. A hospital-supplied ear-loop mask will be provided to patients or visitors who do not have a mask. Masks (covering the nose and mouth) must be worn in ALL areas of the hospital and Wayne HealthCare facilities at ALL times, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Visitors who refuse to wear a mask will be asked to leave the facility.
  • Visitors must wash their hands, or use hand sanitizer, before and after leaving patient rooms and the building.
  • Exceptions may be made on an individual basis for those individuals who are unable to wear a mask due to health or disability issues.

Visitor restrictions will continually be evaluated based on the effects of the spread of Covid-19.
